Why are you doing this?

Having worked with memory and personal stories since 2012, we knew that 2020 was a period that we would be asked about and would impact us forever, yet our team found ourselves already forgetting how we felt and what we did. We wanted a fun, simple, and thoughtful way to help us process and capture our experiences of that pivotal year. Your feedback on the 2020 Time Capsule led us to create other time capsules, which we will continue to share. We hope that by extending these to our community, we can help each other reflect on these pivotal periods and perhaps learn how to better capture and process important memories.

What kind of questions do you ask?

We ask about different themes/phases in the year, such as "Pre-Pandemic" and "Epiphanies." Some questions include: What beauty did you witness, and what did you become hopeful for? What do you miss about pre-pandemic life?

How long will it take?

It takes no less than 2 minutes to go through all the questions, and another 10 minutes for our automated system to create your booklet and email it to you.

How do I receive my zine?

Once you press submit at the end, your responses are automatically interwoven into a little zine with whimsical illustrations and fun facts. You'll receive this as a PDF with instructions on how to fold it.

What else is personalized aside from my answers?

Currently, for the COVID-19 zine we add country-specific data for Colombia, Cuba, India, Italy, Jamaica, the Philippines, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, the UK, and the USA. Please send us an email to let us know what other countries you'd like to add! (letstalk[at]plantain.me)

Is it really 100% free and anonymous?

Absolutely. Your personal data will not be sold or shared with anyone. You can also go through the process as many times as you want.
