A short film gifted for Father’s Day recounting incredible family history.
Family histories are beautifully complex, connecting us to the rest of the world through people, places, and time. When Tao and Gaia sent us files with some insights into their family’s story, the challenge lay in identifying that one simple narrative thread. In the end, we created a short film narrating their incredible family history, going back to the days of Slavery and Emancipation in Jamaica, and of competitive Banana Boats connecting Jamaica and the United States.

Short film celebrating the life of Mrs Marjorie Lee Fook.
In the late 1940’s, Mrs Marjorie Lee Fook would enter the Public Service of the then-British colony, Trinidad and Tobago. Such was her skill that, in 1961 at the cusp of the twin island’s Independence, she would be selected to become the Personal Secretary for a Dr Eric Williams. Dr Williams would go on to become the country’s first Prime Minister, leading the country for over 20 years. Marjorie was at his side throughout. She tells her story.

Our very first project and the short film that birthed Plantain.
It is the story of Linda "Popo" Chang who, at 82, recounts her escape from a wartorn village in Guangdong, China to meet her future husband on a small faraway island called Trinidad.
The film was an Official Selection for the Caribbean Tales International Film Festival (Toronto, 2015) and the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival (Port of Spain, 2012).
